The
Town of Huntington dates from April 2nd, 1653. Town limits gradually extended
the town from Long Island Sound on the north to Great South Bay on the south,
and from Oyster Bay on the west to Smithtown and Islip on the east. In 1872 the
town was divided, the southern portion becoming the Town of Babylon.

Located approximately 80 miles from New York
City, Southampton Town encompasses over 140 square miles of some of the most
beautiful land in the United States.

East Hampton is the easternmost town on Long Island. It
encompasses a land area of 70 square miles on Long Island's south fork and has
almost 70 miles of waterfront on three sides. The Town is bordered by the Town
of Southampton to the west, the Atlantic Ocean to the east and south, and
Gardiner's Bay to the north.

The first designation of this area as anything but "HUNTINGTON SOUTH" was
in 1803. Nathaniel Conklin took his family with him and moved out of the hills
northward and built a house on the northeast corner of what is now the
intersection of East Main Street and Deer Park Avenue.

As Islip approaches maturity, it remains a varied, beautiful and
interesting place to live. Few suburbs encompass ocean beaches, sparkling bays,
a beautiful lake, vistas of forest fields, canals and ponds, historic villages
and innumerable architectural treasures.

The original 1640 settlement ran from Town Creek up Young's Avenue and
then west along Rte. 25 to Willow Hill, Southold's First Presbyterian church is
the oldest English church society in the State of New York.
